ABOUT THE ORANGE WINE FESTIVAL
The Orange Wine Festival is the region’s opportunity to celebrate the thriving wine industry and high-quality cool climate wines that are produced in the region. The program with over 80 events including some much loved favourites such as the Orange Wine Show Tasting, Wine in the Vines, The Vino Express and the Festival Night Market will be back on the menu in 2018, along with a fantastic range of events run by our producers and restaurateurs.
Signature Events During the Festival
Orange Wine Show Tasting & Masterclass
Friday October 12
All the wines from the Orange Wine Show, including the trophy and medal winning wines, will be on show for you to taste and judge. In between tasting, graze from generous platters of delicious local produce.
The Masterclasses will introduce you to the colour, aroma, taste and regional characteristics of Orange wines, why the Orange Region is so special
Wine & Food Night Market
Friday October 19
A wonderful family affair not to be missed. With over 60 stalls offering award winning wines from the Orange Wine Region. All paired with the finest cuisine prepared by our clever chefs and cooks, with a focus on the provenance of our local produce. Set in stunning Robertson Park, relax to the sound of local music with family and friends at long communal tables. Children’s catering and activities on site.

Jump on board the the Vino Express to be part of one of the festival’s signature events. This is a luxury 3-day inclusive packaged weekend of premium wine and food experiences in the Orange region, and includes transfer from Sydney to Orange (return) by train in a dedicated festival carriage and 2 nights’ accommodation in a centrally-located hotel.

Wine in the Vines
Saturday October 20
Meet the maker! Explore the wines of Orange without need for a Plan B. We’ll be your designated driver as you are introduced to local vignerons and given an exclusive insight into how some of Orange’s best cool climate grapes go from vine to wine. Board the bus and enjoy a roving lunch with matching wines throughout the region on this all-inclusive day trip! Ticket includes lunch, wine tastings, transfers and a bottle of the region’s best to takeaway.

Stories of Orange, NSW – meet our winegrowers
Philip Shaw is recognised as one of the world’s leading winemakers, and is the former Head of Production / Winemaking for Rosemount and Southcorp Wines. Philip established his own vineyard in the Orange region in 1989. He searched Australia for years to find the best site in an emerging wine-growing region to make exceptional wines with flavour and finesse. The opportunity to pioneer and champion the region greatly appealed to Philip, and his belief in the Orange wine-growing region has been backed by numerous international awards.read more
A recognised pioneer of the Orange region’s viticulture industry, Justin is the proud owner of See Saw Wine – one of the region’s most successful biodynamic vineyards. He believes the phenomenal and growing success of Orange as an emerging food and wine destination has been in its promotion through events such as the Orange Wine Festival and Orange F.O.O.D Week. “Orange is a cosmopolitan region. Charlie’s love for wine meant he was habitually bending the ears of his friends about his passion – yet the move to winemaking seemed for Charlie, beyond him. “I was the beer brewer for the parties on campus, but craving to dabble in winemaking. When I turned 40, my mates gave me a barrel and told me to get on with it – make wine – they were sick of hearing about my viniferous dreams. We see ourselves as minimalist winemakers at De Salis – like a great chef who will choose the best produce in season and artistically develops the flavour, enhancing but not changing its uniqueness and regionality.”read more
